Or she just has good taste in quotes. A while back O Magazine ran a full-page quote by Ethical Leader Algernon Black, and I’m told today’s email newsletter has this quote by the Leader Emeritus of the Riverdale-Yonkers Society for Ethical Culture, Matthew Ies Spetter: “To be human means to have the capacity for transformation.”

I met Ies several times in New York; he is a lovely and strong-minded man whose horrendous experiences during the Holocaust only strengthened his faith in the human capacity for goodness. Amazing. Thank you for the inspirational thought, Ies.
