The perfect midwinter book

Wow it was a cold walk to work today. I bundled up until the bridge of my nose was the only flesh visible. And I thought about Moominland Midwinter by Tove Jansson, and how everyone should read it–whether you hate winter or love winter, and if you are between the ages of 10 and however-old-the-oldest-person is. The Moomin books are Finnish stories about some silly and wise creatures that live in the great woods of the north, and Moominland Midwinter tells about the first Moomin to awaken from hibernation and experience wintertime, with all its magic and cruelty. If my description sounds dumb, just trust me. It’s a wonderful book and very profound and fun. See if your library has it. It’s great to read aloud with someone too.
