Our Society’s Leader, Kate Lovelady, was at the New York Society for Ethical Culture last week to give a talk on “The Ethics of Work”. Fortunately for us, the New York Society posts its Platform Address on YouTube, so we can hear Kate’s thoughts on the ethical place of work in our culture.

This address will explore the relationship between American mainstream culture and work. How have attitudes toward work changed over the centuries? Why do Americans work so much more than people in other countries? Should we be using the recent recession as an opportunity to challenge norms about work hours? And what is ethical work?
