Joss Whedon, Humanist

I’m not quite geeky enough to have a “Joss Whedon is my master now” T-shirt. . . . Actually, I am geeky enough to wear one; I’m just too frugal to buy one. For those who don’t know, Whedon is the creator of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Firefly,” among other things, and is an activist for women’s rights. And he has been named Cultural Humanist of 2009 by Harvard’s Humanist Chaplaincy.

If you don’t know Whedon’s work, check out the online film (~45 minutes) “Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog.” There will also be a workshop on the ethics of “Firefly” at the national assembly of Ethical Societies this June in St. Louis.
