Speaker: Dr. Claude Bernard, professor emeritus of Physics, Washington University – Taking a historical approach, Claude will introduce key principles of quantum mechanics as it developed in the first few decades of the 20th century. He will discuss some of the ubiquitous technological impacts of quantum mechanics and attempt to give some appreciation of the unsettling weirdness of quantum mechanics, and how that weirdness has been confirmed by modern experiments.
