Saturday Session at the Society

November 11, 2023 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Authenticity, Freedom, & Belonging

When and where are you the most authentic version of yourself?
When you are able to be yourself fully, how do you feel?
What keeps you from sharing all parts of yourself?
When you imagine “freedom,” what comes to mind?
What does it mean to find “belonging”?
Brené Brown said, “True belonging doesn’t require you to change who you are; it requires you to be who you are.”
What do you think about that?
How might we create spaces that invite folks and allow them to feel like they belong?

In this organic, reflective, dialogue-based circle session, we will be exploring these and other questions. That said, you will not be required to speak. Please bring a pen and a notebook. (If you forget, I will provide it for you.)

This series is an extension of the work we are doing and will continue to do in Forum, but with a bit more time and a slightly different format. No one will be required to speak, but these are dialogue-based sessions. These sessions are open to any adults interested in and willing to engage in the work and agree to the group norms. Group norms regarding respect for others, the appropriate sharing of space, and honoring confidentiality will be introduced and lovingly enforced. All of these sessions have a shared intention of personal and community benefiit. A community gets healthier when the humans within it are healthy.

All sessions will be facilitated by ESSL Interim Director Amy L. Miller except when noted otherwise. Amy has a background in social work, counseling, relationship coaching, mediation, and communication and loves doing group work like this!
