Ethicyclists – The Off & On the Beaten Path To & In Forest Park Ride
April 30 @ 9:30 am - 1:00 pm
On Saturday, April 30, the Ethicyclists will have their first ride of the new season. We will meet at 9:15 a.m. on Delcrest Dr. at Mansions on the Plaza 8300 Delmar Blvd and promptly depart at 9:30 a.m. There is a bit of a beaten path from here to Forest Park, namely through Clayton to Forsyth or Wydown. But, we know the side streets which add variety and safety to the ride.
Once in the park, we’ll do the circuit clockwise a bit past the Planetarium and then off the path again to the Jewel Box, Upper Muny Parking Lot, and eventually Art Hill. We won’t return the same way since we are an offbeat group, so naturally, we’ll cut through Wash U’s campus to the Loop for lunch near Chuck Berry’s statue. Afterward, we’ll stay in UCity passing Heman Park, UCity High School and Ruth Park Golf Course back to the Mansions. The total ride is about 16 miles and relatively flat with a few easy hills.
Don’t forget the usual: extra tube, helmet, sunscreen, sunglasses, water and money. We should get to a Loop restaurant by 11:30 a.m. or earlier and be able to enjoy outside dining for safety reasons. Contact Joe Corrigan at 314-753-5538 or David Brown at 314-696-8183 for more information. A backup date in case of rain is Saturday, May 7.
