Ethicyclists’ Ride to the Botanical Garden

June 4 @ 9:15 am - 1:00 pm

On Saturday June 4, the Ethicyclists will have their third ride of the season. Meeting on Delcrest Drive at Mansions on the Plaza (8300 Delmar Blvd., 63124), we will congregate at 9:15 a.m. and promptly depart at 9:30 a.m. We will pass through neighborhoods and downtown Clayton before riding the dedicated bike lane on tree-lined Wydown Blvd. to Forest Park. Going counterclockwise on the first half of the six-mile circuit, we’ll go up near Barnes Hospital and over the Hwy 40 pedestrian bridge to the Missouri Botanical Garden. We’ll have a rest stop there and maybe a short visit to the only known public Ottoman garden in the world!

We have a few options for lunch in the Grove area off Manchester or back in Forest Park. Returning to the Park, we’ll finish the circuit and return to Clayton via Wydown Blvd. again. We have another pedestrian bridge that goes over Forest Park Blvd past the Ritz Hotel and to Shaw Park in Clayton. The total ride is about 18.5 miles and relatively flat with a few easy hills. Don’t forget the usual: extra tube, helmet, sunscreen, sunglasses, water and money. Contact Joe Corrigan at 314-753-5538 or David Brown at 314-696-8183 for more information. A backup date in case of rain or excessive heat is Saturday, June 18.
