Ethicyclists Fallen Riders Memorial Ride
July 27, 2019 @ 9:15 am - 2:00 pm
On Saturday, July 27, the Ethicyclists will do their fourth ride of the season on the River Des Peres Greenway, one of the city’s more popular trails (hoping trails/roads are totally open).
This memorial ride is dedicated to the memories of members Dalton Baker and Christine Floss. In 2014, Dalton showed us this scenic ride through his beloved South St. Louis, and Christine rode this area with our group in 2016 and enjoyed it a great deal. We’ll meet in the parking lot of the Shrewsbury/Lansdowne Metrolink Station at 9:15 a.m. and start our ride at 9:30 a.m.
We will proceed along River Des Peres past the River City Casino and eventually to Jefferson Barracks Park and Cemetery. On the return trip, we’ll venture off the Christy Greenway through South St. Louis to Macklind Avenue for lunch. The round trip will be about 22 miles and the trail is wide and mostly flat.
The Great Rivers Greenway District has incorporated many green features into this trail’s design, including native plantings, bioswales for water management, and a “living wall.” So expand your boundaries and leave the comfort of your ‘hoods and get a taste of South St. Louis and its interesting neighborhoods, parks, and restaurants.
Bring water, sunscreen, sunglasses, spare tube, and a helmet. For more information, contact Joe Corrigan (314-753-5538; email@example.com. If you would like to be included on our email list for future rides, contact David Brown at firstname.lastname@example.org.
