Ethicyclist Ride through Forest Park to the Missouri Botanical Garden

April 20 @ 9:00 am - 2:00 pm

On Saturday, April 20, the Ethicyclists will have their first ride to Forest Park as usual, but with some new twists. We won’t be following the traditional trails to and in the park en route to the Missouri Botanical Garden (MBG) nor on our return. The gathering will be at 9:15 a.m. with a prompt departure of 9:30 a.m. from 8300 Delmar Blvd., 63124. A new route will take us into Forest Park, and we’ll have a short stop at the Forest Park Forever Clock Tower around 10:15 a.m. Cyclists can meet up with us there if they like.

Cycling on a main Forest Park street and then back onto the trail, we’ll arrive at Clayton Avenue and ride to Tower Grove Avenue and then to the MBG. We can spend 15 to 30 minutes there and then return via Chouteau Avenue to Forest Park. Staying on a road, we’ll pass the Jewel Box, and we’ll arrive at the Emerson Central Fields and have beautiful views looking east. A winding trail takes us down and back to the bike trail around Steinberg Skating Rink, and then we’ll be heading west on the trail and through Washington U.’s campus back to UCity.

The ride will be about 18 miles and is mainly flat with some moderate hills. Options for lunch could be the MBG, Songbird on Chouteau, the Boathouse in Forest Park, or Fitz’s in the Loop.

Don’t forget to bring the usual – helmet, extra tube, sunscreen, water, and snack if you like. Questions? Contact Joe Corrigan, 314-753-5538, japplecorr@att.net.
