Outings
November 18: Foodbank
Our November Outing will be a service project at the Foodbank. The shift is from 10 AM – 1 PM. Folks should meet at the Foodbank (70 Corporate Woods Drive, Bridgeton) inside in the Volunteer area around 9:45 – 9:50. The Foodbank staff will do background information about the Foodbank, its mission, and safety protocols starting at 10; we don’t want anyone to miss that part.

Folks can bring food to eat during breaks and we HIGHLY recommend they do that. Either bring a snack and plan on eating lunch after the shift is over OR bring a small lunch to eat at the 11:30 break.

Children must be 5 years old to participate.

RSVPs are now full. All 20 spots have been claimed. We will not be able to get a larger allotment this year. If you are interested in going, you can ask to be on the waiting list in case a family has to back out. If the event is successful this year, we might do it again next year, with more slots.

December 10: Year-End Celebration
Please join us on Sunday, December 10 for our year-end celebration. We plan to have this event at the Ethical Society after Platform (noon) on the 10th in the Henke Room. We intend to have a potluck lunch, to hand out awards from the year, to reflect on the fun and learning from the year, and to play some games. We will also have shirts, hats, and bandanas for sale.

Parents: Please review the Badge Book and let Haley Pepper know if your children have earned any badges outside of Navigators activities this year. Also, there is a new badge for Endurance and Bravery – please let Haley know if your children have done something special this year to earn that badge.

General Meetings
November 12
We had a lot of Navigators, SEEK kids, and parents helping out with our service General Meeting. We showed our appreciation to the Ethical Society for being our sponsor by cleaning the Society’s auditorium.

After a quick overview of what service is and how it connected to Veteran’s Day and a quick lesson on how to clean the chairs without getting them wet (and why that would be unpleasant), we got to work.

The seniors were in charge of providing damp clothes to limit the drips and to help younger kids when they found gum or tape. By the end, we cleaned nearly every chair in the auditorium.

Our Treasurer, Bob Heck, gave a nice overview of the auditorium and talked about the secret doors and what their purpose was.

Some photos are available on Facebook.

December
We are not planning on having a General Meeting in December. Enjoy your holidays!

Organization
Year-End Planning Meeting
The Council is planning to meet on December 3 to make plans for next year. This meeting usually takes several hours as we discuss strategy for the upcoming year, make tentative plans for outings and general meetings, and discuss changes to the Council.

Please attend if you are currently on the Council or just want to contribute to the discussion.

Additionally, some Council positions will be available, so please consider joining the leadership team, and please come to the meeting if you are doing so.
