March 26: Religious Community
We visited two very different local religious communities today to work on our Community badges.
Our first visit was to ISKCON St. Louis, the local Hare Krishna temple. Our guides brought us into the temple room and explained the history, theology, food, clothing, and customs of the Hare Krishna community.
Next, we visited the Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis, which has the largest collection of mosaics in the world. Mr. Heck gave us a lesson on both Catholicism and making mosaics outside, and then we went in to see the mosaics and learn about the stages of the cross. Finally, we visited the small museum under the cathedral to learn a bit more about the building, the art, and Pope John Paul II’s visit.
Some photos are available on Facebook.
April 29-May 1: Camping with Caves
We have early plans to go camping the final weekend of April at Pere Marquette SP. Our criteria in selecting this location were a nearby camping site and caving opportunities.
Our April General Meeting will be at 9:45 am on April 17 at the Ethical Society.
April Council Meeting
Our next Council meeting is scheduled for 9:30 am on April 10 in the Nursery School Green Room. All are welcome to observe and comment.
