Ethical Navigators Weekly Update – August 17

  • Update: We had a great time at yesterday’s Pool Party. Thanks, Hecks!
  • Tentative plans in place for September and October outings.
  • Tentative plans for a Pancake fundraiser in October.
  • Our next Council Meeting will be September 7 at 9:30am.

August 16: Pool Party
A morning storm had us contemplating cancelling the outing, but it was a good thing that we didn’t: the weather turned out to be calm and wonderful for an afternoon pool party.

We had a great time at Bob Heck’s house. About a dozen families showed up, and we had hours of fun in the pool, on the trampoline, and with the chess board.

Congrats to Rhys Hardin and Jim Jordan for winning the cooking competitions.

Big thanks to the Hecks for hosting us!

A few photos are available on Facebook and Google+.

September 20: Moveable Feast
We have tentative plans for a Moveable Feast on September 20. The plan will be to learn about wild edibles and/or visit an urban farm. Jim Jordan will work with Mitch Hardin to plan this event.

October 17-19: Outdoor skills challenge & campout
Our final campout of the year will include skills challenges and competitions to show how much we have learned. Jim Jordan and Ellen Wilson will investigate options for sites, and Bob Heck and others will devise the challenges. We hope to have this at a campsite that is not very far away.

General Meetings

September 14
Our next General Meeting will be 9am on September 14 at the Ethical Society. This will also be the first day of SEEK for the year, so it will be a big morning!

Fundraiser – In discussion during and after the meeting this morning, we revived the idea of a Pancake Breakfast fundraiser. We have asked the Society office about potential dates in October to make sure there are no conflicts. Watch for more information in the future.

September Council Meeting

Our next Council meeting is scheduled for 9:30 am on September 7 in the Nursery School Green Room. All are welcome to observe and comment.
