Tuesday Women's Association Social Causes Committee

The Social Causes Committee of the Tuesday Women's Association manages the Association's contributions to causes in the community that promote the interests and values of the Ethical Society of St. Louis. Current needs are evaluated annually. Special consideration in 2000 was given to organizations that provide hunger and shelter to the poor, promote children's welfare, and protect the environment.

Recipients of Social Causes Funds for 2003:
  • The St. Louis chapter of Americans United for the Separation for Church and State (http://www.au.org/)
  • Delmo Housing Corporation, to provide a scholarship to help a junior high student and a high school senior take part in school activities
  • Beyond Housing, to provide two scholarships to Camp Wyman (http://stlouis.missouri.org/501c/wyman/)
  • Missouri Association for Social Welfare (http://www.masw.org)
  • Mothers and Children Together, to assist this program that promotes alternative sentences for offenders and provides ways for children to visit their mothers in Vandalia, MO
  • Operation Food Search
  • Redevelopment Opportunities for Women, to assist this program the improves the lives of women and their families by supporting the development of women's self-esteem and life skills
  • Reproductive Health Services through Planned Parenthood of the St. Louis Region (http://www.ppslr.org/)
  • South Side Day Nursery
  • Sierra Club
  • Heifer Project International, three shares of a llama and two flocks of chicks.
