The Ethical Society of St. Louis Youth Group consists of students in grades 9-12, and it meets every Sunday morning for two hours. The program offers a safe, respectful, and confidential environment where group members can freely discuss and explore topics important to teens. The group also takes responsibility for planning and implementing its activities. These events and activities include:
Y.E.S. TripEach fall, the youth group travels to the East coast for a conference planned and implemented by the youth leadership of Y.E.S. (Youth of Ethical Societies.) The conference offers a wonderful opportunity for teens to meet other humanists their age and for friendships to grow.
The group implements several fundraising projects each year to help pay for their travel expenses to the Y.E.S. conference. These projects also help the students learn group dynamics, obtain a sense of accomplishment, and interact with the Ethical Society congregation. Past events have included bake sales, car washes, preparing 1st Sunday Lunch, and hosting a formal dinner dance for all Society members.
Youth SundayEach year the Youth Group is given the privilege of presenting the Sunday Platform to the congregation. They decide the topic and how it should be presented. Past years have included a presentation titled "Family Life" and another titled "A Morning with the Youth Group." These are always wonderfully insightful and creative mornings.
