Subcommittees of the Ethical Action Committee
- Abused and Neglected Children and Victims of Domestic Violence: Advocates for victims and their rights within the Ethical Society community
- Campaign Finance Reform: Acts to endorse full public financing of election campaigns through a liaison with Missouri Alliance for Campaign Reform
- Capital Punishment: Liaison with the Eastern Missouri Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty
- Crime Prevention: Supports delinquency/crime prevention and control programs through work with police, courts, and social service agencies
- Environment: Explores many issues in liaison with such groups as the Missouri Coalition for the Environment (http://www.moenviron.org), the Missouri Public Interest Research Group, and the Sierra Club (http://www.sierraclub.org/chapters/mo/)
- Food Pantry: Collects and delivers canned and non-perishable food, paper products, and cash for donation through the St. Louis region
- Gambling: Works to oppose the establishment of gambling enterprises in the region as a source of revenue
- Gay, Lesbian and Bisexual Issues: Supports community and faith-based groups that offer services to gay, lesbian, and bisexual people in the St. Louis area
- Gilpin Fund: Distributes funds to needy families on a case-by-case basis as established through a bequest from Doris Gilpin, a longtime Ethical Society member
- Handgun Control: Liaison with the Missouri Coalition Against Handgun Violence
- Highway Beautification: Members clean Lindbergh Blvd. north of Monsanto Dr. to Old Olive Street Rd.in this semiannual Society project
- Housing Justice: Advocates for establishing rent-assistance loan funds (RALFs) for public housing and Section 8 through the St. Louis Campaign for Housing and Jobs. Provides assistance to "Room at the Inn," an emergency shelter for homeless families. Advocacy at the state level is coordinated by the Missouri Association for Social Welfare (http://www.masw.org)
- Population Study and Action Group: Liaison with the Sierra Club and Zero Population Growth (http://www.zpg.org/)
- Race Relations: Examines effects and impact of racism in an effort to increase acceptance and understanding
- Religious Freedom: Promotes respect for the civil rights and constitutional freedoms afforded all faiths and religions in conjunction with the Interfaith Alliance.
- Right to Die and Living Wills: Liaison with the Hemlock Society (http://www.hemlock.org)
- Universal Health Insurance: Liaison with Physicians for a National Health Program (http://www.pnhp.org/) and the Missouri Coalition for Single-Payer Health Care
